What does it mean to have fabric certificacions?

There is not perfectly sustainable. But on the path of achieving more circular processes, there are ways to generate greater transparency. Fabric certifications ensures that proper standards related to environmental, social, and animal welfare are applied at the beginning of the supply chain and for us, this is at the core of our mission. But, what are the certifications behind our fabrics and what do they mean?

Let’s make a quick review.

TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers are extracted from wood from controlled and certified forests using a unique closed loop system which recovers and reuses the solvents used, minimizing the environmental impact of production. Unique physical properties lead to their high tenacity profile, efficient moisture management and gentleness to skin.

Working with this fibers, we get transparency into our sustainability practices: from reducing carbon emissions to resource-efficient fiber production.

The Global Recycled Standard (GRS) is a voluntary product standard for tracking and verifying the content of recycled materials in a final product. The standard applies to the full supply chain and addresses traceability, environmental principles, social requirements, chemical content and labeling. GRS covers processing, manufacturing, packaging, labeling, trading and distribution of all products made with a minimum of 20% recycled material.

It also sets requirements for third-party certification of recycled content, chain of custody, social and environmental practices, and chemical restrictions. In our products, fibers such as Cotton, Lyocell and Polyester are certified by this standard.

The viscose fiber EcoVero sets even stricter environmental standards than Tencel. In terms of water and chemical consumption and its carbon footstep, EcoVero is the most ecologically responsible textile out there, surpassing not only other types of rayon, but cotton as well. Supply chain transparency is maximized, from the farming of raw materials, through production, to distribution.

EcoVero is fully biodegradable and compostable. It is easy to recycle (it can be recouped to produce new viscose fibers), but if it does end up in a landfill, it will biodegrade entirely in several months without releasing any toxic chemicals into the soil.

In terms of its fiber qualities, EcoVero resembles other premium rayons: Fine, soft, breathable, very comfortable, good at wicking away moisture, and relatively quick drying. In terms of care, it can be washed, dried, and ironed just like other rayon fabrics.

We feel grateful to be part of the change. Thank you for supporting our mission.

Our experience in ColombiaModa 2023

Colombiamoda delivers one of those moments where the magic of art and design unites with spectators who see with new eyes, sincere curiosity, and an open heart, all the fashion proposals as diverse as the human being himself, but where we are united by what makes us equal: our powerful desire to give our gifts. At the end of July we presented in an unforgettable collective runaway, with proposals as diverse and honest as ours, our latest collection Electric Feel, under the program of Women Changing Fashion.

Our form of expression is connected to the simplicity of minimalism, geometric figures that remind us of the divine order of what appears to be chaos, loose silhouettes inspired by Japanese aesthetics, the frequencies of color and vibration of the material, which we believe deeply connect with our soul, as we are spiritual beings living an earthly experience. Seeing that inspiration embodied in a runway, is like entering a dream from which you do not want to wake up. Every time we live that experience, the energy of the body rises, you remember all the moments you visualized that moment, and tears come to your eyes to see your loved ones and so many people recognizing something you did from your commitment to be true to yourself.

The experience in Colombiamoda leaves us with several lessons and satisfactions. The unconditional solidarity of people, the support of so many who recognize the effort and hard work, the will to continue and the persistence to not let ourselves be carried away by fear. To persist in what we dream is a divine right, and only that inner fire of love for what we do is what helps us to move towards the manifestation of moments like this, which we remember as signs to continue trusting.

Let’s begin by bringing to consciousness the power of colors

Let’s begin by bringing to consciousness the power of colors. And how do we do that? Let’s start first with understanding them from their origin. Although this Universe is full of mysteries and complete synchrony, and the planets continue to rotate every day effortlessly around the sun, which is the essential element for us to see colors, the truth is that there are generalities or “laws” that help explain why a color is visually formed in a way and why it is that we can distinguish it.

Colors are, like everything else that exists, energy, waves. They are light, vibrating at different frequencies, carrying information that our eyes and brain interpret automatically. In fact it is a mystery how we have cells called photosensitive cells that are responsible for taking these light waves and converting them into a color vision.

Humans can only capture a tiny spectrum of the colors that exist. In fact, according to recent studies, our eyes can only see 0.00035% of everything there is. As everything is perfect in the Universe, external vision is one of the many ways (perhaps the least efficient) to connect with the power of color, and that is why in BeMonocromo we do not limit ourselves to it being the only way to perceive the powerful effect of these incredible elements.

In that electromagnetic spectrum visible to us there are high frequency colors, which implies that they have a much shorter wavelength, such as violet and blue. On the other hand, there are lower frequency colors with a long wavelength, such as red and orange. In fact, the rainbow is the formation of these waves in perfect order and synchrony, where I don’t think it seems to almost anyone that the shades do not match each other. Quite the contrary. It seems to us that the rainbow is pure magic.

In future blogs, we will tell you how these frequencies have their own reason for being, and how we can begin to interact in a more intentional way with these gifts from the Universe.

Electric Feel. That was what I felt when we started to create the new collection.

We are electrical beings, because we are energy. And as beings who see and dream in color, we also receive that electricity from the vibration of these elements. To give yourself the opportunity to feel that means to be present, like when we see a painting in the living room that was always there but we didn’t notice before. The brand has not only taught us to open up to a new perspective of fashion and recognize that clothing and the self are intimately related at higher levels, but also has allowed us to express with elegance and simplicity the electric content of the colors we chose for this collection.

Our canvas is normally white, precisely because white contains all the spectrums and it receives all the light frequencies. And from there, we generate contrasts with colors that vibrate to open our power to make decisions, such as yellow, which is the fire that encourages us to take steps while feeling safe, listening to our intuition.

Black color as the opposite of white, creates total depth in absence of everything, and from there we integrated purple as the highest frequency of color in the color spectrum to acknowledge the power to see (really see) our world from a more missionary perspective and oneness.

This is how we navigate through all the colors that inspire us to feel electric from what we wear, among blazers, tops, jumpsuits, pants, shirts and our minimalist world but full of meaning and of all the vibration of color.

I hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

Bogota Fashion Week

We greet you here, where the love for fashion and the creativity of a powerful city come together: from Bogotá Fashion Week.

As we know that the center of our power lies in our intention that emanates from the electromagnetic field of the heart, we see how we all come with the realization of what moves us and how we materialize it through unique pieces that tell a brand story as intimate and individual as our soul.

We have had the opportunity to share information about the vibrancy of colors and what inspired us to create our latest collection (we will tell you more about that later!) with such diverse individuals who share similar and opposing visions. In all of these exchanges, we have been able to connect more as a brand and as humans. We have realized that there is nothing trendy about color or style, that the trend is to embrace our story and let our guard down, to lose the fear of expressing ourselves like children with openness and excitement about everything that crosses our minds.

In this era of so many contrasts, where we finally begin to embrace the uniqueness of who we are, we celebrate this gathering of talents, desires, expression, and courage. Once again, we express our gratitude to the universe for continuing to evolve as a brand.
